Subtitled, 'And Their Indications in Homeopathy Practice,' this is a wonderfully clear and informative guide to homeopathic remedies from the Colubridae (non-venomous) snake family, with a focus on five different species: Cyclagras, Elaphe, Lampropeltis, Natrix and Thamnophis sp. The author draws from her study of the animal kingdom and Colubrid snakes in particular to show their unique expertise - mimicry (a survival strategy often employed by non-venomous snakes that have learned to mimic the bigger venomous ones in order to scare away predators). Well grounded in the evolution mapping approach developed by the Joshis, and also the sensation method of Sankaran and the Mumbai school, she expertly demonstrates how to identify patient characteristics. Often these characteristics might appear through repertorisation as indicative of one of the more commonly prescribed venomous snakes but which, when sufficient attention is paid to the patient's own life narrative, their use of language and gesture, as well as their general energy, in fact point to one of the less well known Colubrids.
The book has beautiful images throughout and a chapter on many of our best-known venomous snake remedies, however the case studies are all taken from prescriptions of non-venomous snake remedies and are completely compelling.
For practitioners and students.
