Frustrated by the traditional 'head to toe' presentation in most of his course textbooks when studying homeopathy, Dr. Rahmathullah has complied a Materia Medica of 101 remedies that are either polycrests or vulneries, in which the information is presented in a physiological manner, following in the footsteps of Dr. Douglas Gibson's 'Studies of Homeopathic Remedies'. Intended primarily for the student of homeopathy, Rahmathullah begins each remedy picture by looking at its pharmacology, clinical features and general characteristics. Thereafter the remedy's external aspects and its physiological, systemic and psychological symptoms; lastly remedy relationships and a few suggestions for therapeutic use. This is in contrast to the traditional approach in which the mental and emotional symptoms are given first and physical symptoms second. Presenting information in this way is, for the author, more natural and much more in the vein of an actual case-taking, and therefore considerably easier to comprehend.
The choice of font and the lay-out of the text, allowing for quite some space on each page, enhance this aspect and make for an accessible and enjoyable read, as well as offering a valuable resource for students and practitioners alike.
