This is a beautifully presented and meticulously researched book, which brings together concise information about the Asteraceae family (Arnica, Bellis perennis, Calendula and more), and its sub-family Anthemideae (the 'bitter pill' Artemisias).
These are remedies that we know for ruptures of mind and body, when boundaries have been broken by accident, violence, abuse or invasion (invasion from blood poisoning, worms, bacteria or hayfever), as well as from injury, surgery and physical and emotional abuse.
The author draws on varied sources form homeopathy (Scholten, Sankaran, Dorothy Shepherd to name a few), to herbalism (Culpepper, Mtthew Wood - check out Millefolium here: 'Haemorrhage, Bright Star in Dark Times'), to botany (Richard Mabey), mythology, psychology and cookery.
It is also a beautifully illustrated text with botanical drawings and richly appropriate quotations: 'the wound is the place where the light enters' (Rumi), and, who would have thought it, 'there is a crack in everything that's how the light gets in,' from Leonard Cohen, poet, singer and songwriter.
I would recommend this book highly to homeopaths and to all those interested in homeopathy. It is a gift.
The author's first book 'Sea Remedies,' also stocked by Helios, is another, similarly wonderful book.
